Baiona to host the Spanish J80 Championship prior to the 2023 World Championship

AMPEONATO DE ESPAÑA J80 BAIONA 2022

The Monte Real Club de Yates will be in charge of organising the 2022 Spanish J80 Championship, the most important national event before the 2023 World Championship, which will also be held in Baiona.

The Baiona club will organise the competition on behalf of the RFEV and with the collaboration of the Galician Sailing Federation, the Spanish J80 Owners Association and the Baiona City Council.

The event will take place on September 18-24, 2022 and the PROVISIONAL REGATTA ANNOUNCEMENT is as follows:

1. RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by:

1.1.1 The Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing of the World Sailing World Sailing.

1.1.2 [DP] The J80 Class Rules.

1.1.3 The current Technical Regulations for Cruise Ships

1.1.4 [DP] World Sailing Equipment Rules

1.1.5 [NP][DP] Security protocol in relation to COVID-19

1.2 Races may be umpired in accordance with WS Addendum Q, which will be stated in the sailing instructions.

1.3 [NP][DP] All competitors and support personnel shall follow any reasonable instructions given by a member of the organisation or race official.

1.4 In the rules governing this race the notice [NP] refers to the fact that a breach of this rule shall not be grounds for protest between boats. (Amends R 60.1(a) of the RRS).

2. ADVERTISING

2.1 Participants may display advertising in accordance with WS Regulation 20.

2.2 In accordance with WS Regulation 20, competitors may be required to display Advertising, on the forward 20% of the hull on each side of the boat, which will be provided at the Race Office upon confirmation of entry.

3. ELIGIBILITY

3.1 Participants shall comply with the conditions of eligibility as reflected in WS Regulation 19 and the RFEV's prescriptions related to this Regulation.

3.2 All Spanish participants, with legal residence in Spain or who participate representing a Spanish Club must be in possession of a valid sportsman's license. Foreign athletes must be covered by a civil liability policy for a minimum of 1.000.000€ and accident with coverage for regattas.

4. PARTICIPANTS

4.1 The Spanish J80 Class Championship is a closed regatta with regard to the participation of foreign crews. The RFEV reserves the right to invite foreign crews upon request.

4.2 Owners and skippers must be members of their National Association in the J80 class and be registered at www.j80measurement.com.

5. REGISTRATION

5.1 Registrations shall be made through:

before 4 September 2022, via the registration form.

5.2 The registration fee is 250,00€.

5.3 The Organising Committee reserves the right to accept registrations received after the deadline for registration, in which case the registration fee will be 350 Euros.

6. REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS

6.1 The representative of each boat shall register and sign the Registration Form in person at the Race Office by 12 noon on 15 September 2022.

6.2 Registration is conditional upon the submission of the following documents before the appointed time:

6.2.1 Current CR insurance policy, with regatta coverage.

6.2.2 Participants of Spanish nationality or with legal residence in Spain, the federative athlete's licence 2022.

6.2.3 For crew members from other countries who do not have an RFEV licence, accident insurance per crew member.

6.2.4 If carrying advertising, authorisation from their respective National Authority for the display of advertising.

6.2.5 Entry form, including declarations in accordance with the class rules, duly completed and signed.

6.2.6 Identity Card or Passport of each crew member

6.2.7 Pandemic Specific Rules Declaration Form for each crew member on each ship.

7. COMPETITION PROGRAMME AND FORMAT

7.1 The programme of the event is as follows:

7.2 On 18 September, no signal will be given after 16:30h.

7.3 The planned format of competition is fleet racing.

7.4 There are 9 races scheduled of which 2 must be completed for the validity of the regatta, races may be brought forward if the committee deems it appropriate.

7.5 If social events are held, they shall be published in the TOA.

7.6 The location of the skippers' meeting will be notified via the WhatssApp group or will be posted on the TOA of the regatta.

8. MEASUREMENTS. REGISTRATION OF SAILS AND EQUIPMENT. [DP]

8.1 Sail registration and equipment inspection will take place on 15 and 16 September at the times indicated in 7.1.

8.2 Boats shall present for registration the items listed in their written declaration, which shall be: 1 mainsail, 1 jib and 1 or 2 gennakers. The second gennaker shall be sealed and its use shall be requested from the R.C.

8.3 Sails must comply with the class rules prior to the event, carry the official sticker and be registered on www.j80measurement.com.

8.4 Daily measurement checks may be carried out.

9. SCORING

9.1 Appendix A and the Low Point System described in RRS rule A4 shall apply.

9.2 If 5 or more races have been completed, the total score for each boat shall be the sum total of all her points, discarding her worst result.

10. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The IRs will be available from 20:00 on the day before the start of the tests on the official notice board (TOA).

11. COMMUNICATIONS

11.1 The Race Committee will use VHF Channel 72 for its communications during the races.

11.2 Notices to participants shall be posted on the Official Notice Board (TOA).

12. AWARDS

The list of prizes will be displayed at the TOA, before the start of the 1st race of each class.

13. LIABILITY

13.1 All boats participating in the regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility.

13.2 Monte Real Club de Yates, the organising authority or any other person or body involved in the organisation of the event, declines any responsibility for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to persons or things, both on land or at sea, as a result of participation in the events covered by this Notice of Race.

13.3 Attention is drawn to IRR Part 1, Fundamental Rule 3 RULING DECISION, which states:

"It is the sole responsibility of a boat to decide whether to participate in a race or to continue racing.
